How I teach

Biology makes sense when you see how it connects

Instead of memorizing lists, students learn the logic underneath, starting with the central dogma: how a gene becomes a working protein.

DNA · the instructions

ATG GCT AAG TGA

Stored in the nucleus, copied before every cell division.

transcription

mRNA · the message

AUG GCU AAG UGA

Read in codons of three letters. UGA means stop.

translation

Protein · the worker

MetAlaLysStop

Folded chains of amino acids that build and run the cell.

About

I explain biology the way scientists actually use it.

I'm a molecular biologist and immunologist doing cancer research on Long Island, with research experience across universities in the US, Asia, and the Middle East. Before moving into research full time, I taught biology, anatomy, physiology, genetics, microbiology, and biochemistry to high school, college, and allied-health students.

Most students struggle with biology because it gets taught as words to memorize. I teach the reasoning behind it: why a cell does what it does, how an experiment proves something, and how to read a graph on an exam. Once that clicks, the memorizing gets much easier.
